Tree Section
The City of Oakland has a tree section dedicated to keeping the neighborhoods and streets of Oakland safe against hazardous trees, while working with Oaklanders to preserve these natural beauties.
Facts About Oakland's Infrastructure - Trees
- Maintain about 38,400 street trees.
- 95% of our work is request-driven due to limited staffing.
- 25% of our work is removal of hazardous trees in the public right-of-way north/east of I-580.
- Plant over 1,000 trees and prune 3,200 trees each year.
- Issue over 400 tree permits for private properties each year.
