Sausal Restoration Complete! The Sausal Creek Restoration Project in Dimond Canyon has been completed [November 2001]. The project removed concrete structures and check dams from a 600 linear-foot reach of the creek above El Centro Avenue in Dimond Park. more |
The Arroyo Viejo Restoration Project in Arroyo Viejo Park is completed. Sponsored by the City of Oakland, the California Coastal Conservancy, and the Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, the project removed failing cement structures, stabilized banks, and restored native vegetation along a 750 linear-foot stretch of creek. more |
The Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC) are incorporating into a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This will help with fundraising for the Friends' many ambitious projects, as well as allowing FOSC to hire staff. Congrats to FOSC for their leadership and determination, and good luck in their continued growth. |
The Friends of Temescal Creek, Merritt College, the Alameda County Resource Conservation District, the Environmental Science Institute, Friends of the Estuary and other partners have been awarded a 3-year, $500,000 CALFED Watershed Program grant to improve the awareness of, and capacity for, local watershed stewardship and management. more |
